My Background

I was born in Norway, where the light makes the color of nature extra vibrant and beautiful, this inspired me to use a lot of colors in my paintings. I was always happiest when I was creating art.
I  lived a year in Japan before I came to California. I was inspired by their rich culture to study Sumie painting, and wood block printing.
California has lots of beautiful places to plein air paint, and the changing light teaches you to work quickly.  
I love teaching art, and teach painting workshops for children and adults.
I am part owner of the Persimmon Art Gallery in Auburn, where I show my art.
I am teaching Sip and Paint classes at Persimmon Gallery, Sun City in Lincoln and Roseville, at wineries and private home parties. 
I enjoy painting the extravagnet parts of nature. I paint oil on canvas, often using a mixture of brush and pallet knife. I enjoy painting on larges canvases. 
I also paint local birds,  plants and animals on wood slabs.
I accept commissions, and have created many paintings for people both here and in other countries.
