Artist Unni Stevens –Oil Painter, Woodblock Printer and Art Teacher.
Growing up in Norway, Unni had the privilege to easily travel to many beautiful places. Her art is inspired by the shape and color of her travels, as well as the mystery of nature and its seasons. She chooses uplifting subjects, both cultural and natural.
She spent a year working and studying sumie paintings, ceramics and wood block printing in Japan.
In California, she attended the Laguna Beach School of Art where she studied drawing, sculpture and painting, and where she co-owned the Artist Alley Gallery.
Her preferred medium is oil paint, and she like to experiment with impasto and pallet knife, as well as layering transparent washes for a feeling of depth and rich colors.
She enjoys plein air painting because it lets her get a feeling for the subject and the vibrant colors of nature.
She has been teaching art for many years, and is currently teaching Sip and Paint Classes with her son, artist Jakob Stevens, as well as painting workshops in Placer County, where she lives!
Unni showed her work at the Placer Land Trust Bruin Ranch exhibit, Lincoln Arts Open juried show, PAL membership show, Latitudes restaurant, General Gomez Galler, North Tahoe Arts Gallery, Art Stock and several other venues in California, Norway and Japan.
She has painted artwork for Placer Land Trust for their Bruin Ranch wine label, as well as Chadi and De Stefano wine labels.
Unni has been a member of the High Hand Art Galley in Loomis for 4 years. She has shown her work in
Popie Wine tasting room, in Loomis, CA.
She sells her paintings on line, and she welcomes commissions.
